Reply by slimjames on January 5, 2008Just to see what improvements were made from version 5 to 6, I downloaded the older version. The only difference I could detect is that, after you pick your 4x2 (not 2x4!) you have to click 'accept' THEN 'select'. That's right, two buttons to pick a 4x2!
The only difference between the versions is that version 5 doesn't throw an error if you click 'select' first. Version 6 gives you some incomprehensible error about a 'B value' when it really should tell you to choose the dimensions of the wood. Everything else seems the same.
The only scroll bar in the entire program works exactly backward from every scrollbar ever made. That's the horizontal. The vertical doesn't work at all. The program doesn't let you save your parameters, so if you need to run it dozens of times (and you will) you have to start from scratch every time. And I ran the program seven times with the same numerical dimensions, but different stress multipliers. Same results.
The free trial version is worth every penny.
